2 images
[edit]Dear Christian,
Could you kindly review these 2 images uploaded by me below.
Sadly, if you see over here, the flickrbot has broken down since November 27, 2024. Best, --Leoboudv (talk) 21:50, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: I manually reviewed some flickr images but 6,000 images is too many for one person. Best, --Leoboudv (talk) 22:55, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
- Done Christian Ferrer (talk) 09:14, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thank You Christian for your help here. As for the flickrbot, hopefully someone can fix it before the backlog reaches 2,500 to 3,000 or more images. Best, --Leoboudv (talk) 09:44, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
Dear Christian,
Please kindly review this image when you can. I uploaded it and did not crop it but the flickr upload bot did not pass it for some strange reason. Best Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 03:21, 6 December 2024 (UTC)
- Done Christian Ferrer (talk) 07:55, 6 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thank You Christian for your help. Have a good holiday season...though I think your President Macron is not doing so well right now. Such is life, --Leoboudv (talk) 08:53, 6 December 2024 (UTC)
Question about PD-Art license
[edit]Dear Christian,
I need to ask you a question about the {{PD-Art}} license.
- It is supposed to be used in 2 Dimensional images such as papyri. Would images like an ostraca below qualify...as I thought ostracas were 3 Dimensional images unless it was painted on stone. This important DR relates to an old painting on stone but the work is painting so PD-Art is OK. But carving into stone....does not feel like 2D Art.
- File:Female_topless_egyption_dancer_on_ancient_ostrakon.jpg
Kind Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 06:59, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: If this WikiCommons ostraca image is OK, then I suppose I could upload this flickr ostraca image as PD-Art without asking for permission. Please think about the PD-Art license before giving your reply since you are an experienced Admin here. Is the ostracon a painting...like ink on stone or a carving...that is the question? Best Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 07:07, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Leoboudv: Hello, clearly no, I would not upload it. It is true that the object itself, including the drawing, are in Public Domain, however the whole image is obviously and undoubtedly a photography of a 3D object, therefore the photo have a copyright protection. The exemples you gave above are a bit different. The DR show a 2D image (at least with this framing), and this one as much too, although that for that last one IMO it begins to be somewhat borderline as, because of the framing, we start to see not only a 2D image but a 3D, but well, the photo is very "plane" and is maybe assimilable to a 2D representation... Photos of coins found in internet are not allowed because they are 3D objects, the photo you want to ipload from Flickr is much more "3D" than a coin. Sorry, Christian Ferrer (talk) 07:45, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: Thank you Christian for your honest and important opinions--whether positive or negative. The flickr image I was thinking of uploading makes me nervous as it shows a 3D context at the side. So, I believed I needed more help from an experienced Admin such as yourself. I will not upload that image for Ramesses VIII's article without a free license. Best Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 08:45, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
Hey Christian Ferrer. I saw that Commons:Deletion requests/File:Greatbend74.jpg was deleted (by you) under PRP and I wanted to ask if you could link the URL source that use to be attached to the photograph so I can do further investigation to see if that photograph could indeed be free-to-use? Thanks! WeatherWriter (talk) 20:33, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
- @WeatherWriter: hello, there was no source, the files was marked as "own work". Christian Ferrer (talk) 09:32, 20 December 2024 (UTC)

Dear Christian,
Please kindly review these Mushroom Observer if you can. Sadly, this is the last quality image from this Asian (Taiwanese) contributor as he soon after changed the license of his photos to NC in October 2024. WikiCommons does not have this new species which is mentioned here One rarely gets free 12 MB images anywhere but Mushroom Observer's default license was set up to be compatible with wikipedia at cc by sa 2.0. Best Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 03:10, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thank You Christian and have a Happy New Year. Best Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 06:46, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: If you can, please give your opinions about the 4 images that I raised on Admin noticeboard. I have to sign out now as it is late at night in Canada. Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 13:15, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry, no. It's a bit complicated, I don't have the motivation. Good night. Christian Ferrer (talk) 15:26, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
Dear Christian,
If you have the time, please review this rare image dating to the time of Ramesses II (1279-1213 BC). I used a free version of Adobe Photoshop to sharpen the image. Thank You, --Leoboudv (talk) 00:22, 30 December 2024 (UTC)

- Thank You Christian for your help. This object is very unique and is the only known surviving brazier for burning incense from Ancient Egypt. Kind Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 09:21, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
File:Ancient Egypt Broad Collar of Gold and Carnelian Beads.jpg & File:Heset Ewer of Ahmose I.jpg
[edit]Dear Christian,
When you can, please kindly review this ancient Egyptian Broad collar and the ewer which was on display in France in 2023. I used this free online image software to sharpen the original flickr image under 'adjustments' on the lower left after I uploaded the image. Then I have to use irfanview to crop the larger jpeg image...but it is better image than the original.
- Personally, I am jealous. The Ramses Gold of the Pharaohs exposition comes to France, the US in 2023 and now Australia in 2024...but never Canada! Such is life. Best Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 02:50, 31 December 2024 (UTC)
- Done I didn't know that free online image software, I have the sotware Adobe Photoshop. They seems better indeed, be carefull to not to add too much sharpening though because this process tend to make appears digital artifacts, or tend to accentuate them when the image already has them. Christian Ferrer (talk) 07:31, 31 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thank You Christian. Adobe Photoshop is probably the best image software...but the monthly cost is really expensive with Adobe. Perhaps you use it for your real work too. Best Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 08:00, 31 December 2024 (UTC)
- I don't pay monthly, as an amateur photographer I bought it on CD-ROM ten years ago, maybe more. Christian Ferrer (talk) 08:05, 31 December 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: That is good that Adobe Photoshop is free. I used to subscribe to Adobe Acrobat Professional version and the monthly fees were expensive. When I finally quit about 2 years ago, Adobe charged me about $70.00 more for quitting their subscription plan! I will go to bed soon. IF your Adobe Photoshop software can generate a better photo (by uploading over the original photo below) from the original sized Flickr source, please feel free to do so. This was a difficult photo to crop and sharpen...with many artifacts sadly. Its your decision here.

Thanks for all your help in 2024. I will be slowing down in 2025. As you can see from my wikipedia Leoboudv account, I have some interest in Ancient Egypt. If you can develop an upload a better photo, feel free to go ahead. Best and Goodnight, --Leoboudv (talk) 10:19, 31 December 2024 (UTC)
